Yasuhiro Ishimoto: Japan
Yasuhiro Ishimoto (Japanese American, 1921- ) was born in San Francisco and raised in Japan, where he has lived ever since. His book celebrating the architecture and life of Chicago, where he studied photography is Ishimoto's most personal statement - his bold use of contrast, the design of the frame, and the influence of his studies define his Chicago images. Ishimoto currently focuses on themes he has explored throughout his career that convey the transitory essence of life, including clouds in constantly changing formations, fallen leaves soaked by the rain, and footprints melting in the snow.
