Ap Studio Art: 2D PORTFOLIO
Concentration:
This series was influenced by Google Earth satellite images which reminded me of the 1960s space race and creation of our first environmental groups. Additionally, the pop culture of the 1960s inspired the use of multimedia and choice of bright color schemes. For instance image three uses the grooviness visual trend of the 60s to depict a deciduous forest. Image eleven, which is inspired by a satellite image of tulip farms in the Netherlands, also echoes the vibrant color scheme of the 1960s. Image seven highlights the environmental consequences of humans on rainforests. Those three pieces exemplify the overall theme of the series which explores scientific, environmental, and cultural aspects of the 1960s that are still relevant today. In addition to exploring concepts spanning the last 50 years I restricted the shape of each work to mimic how our contemporary society views the world through a smart phone screen.
