Artist's Voice is a three hour evening course for Fine Arts students who are interested in pursuing, shaping and challenging their individual artistic vision and voice. Students will be able to more intensively explore and expand their creativity by working with a range of guest artists and a longer uninterrupted studio session. Each week's class is guided by a guest artist that presents his or her work and leads students in a related project. Artist's Voice students also help strengthen our creative community here at Redwood by hosting public art events as a part of the class structure. In addition to our regular class hours, students are required to complete several hours of independent work outside of class, either through responding to art in a local gallery or museum, or volunteering within the local arts community. Guest artists have included: Karen Meadows, Stephanie Jucker, Josh Hagler, Leah Thomason Bromberg, Chris West, Barbara Obata, Michael McConnell, Michael Campbell, Mimi Lauter and Serena Cole.
(Artist's Voice is not being offered in the 2020 - 21 school year.)

EventsTowards the end of each semester we host an open studio type event. Our goal is to build an audience for the visual arts and invite students to connect creatively across the disciplines. Each event is organized and produced by the students themselves and usually consists of some form of exhibition, performances from other art genres, art activities and a creative fundraiser. Check out posters from past events to the left.

Extra HoursStudents complete the extra required hours by visiting a local gallery, museum or art activity. We are lucky to live near so many great opportunities to see great art. For a list of possibilities see this page. At least once a semester we also offer an optional field trip outside of class for students who would rather go with a group. Past trips have included the Asian Art Museum, the Museum of the African Diaspora and SFMOMA.
