Ap Studio Art: Drawing PORTFOLIO
Concentration:
What is the central idea of your concentration?
My art explores the idea that humans and surrounding objects have multiple relationships. The work itself consists of humans and how they understand the objects they come by. My pieces demonstrate a conflict of beauty and the meaning of it with unclear representation through abstraction. I wanted to represent classic ideas of beauty through a person themselves as they are inputted into a scene where they try to find the meaning behind the abstraction of beautiful objects. How does the work in your concentration demonstrate the exploration of your idea? You may refer to specific images as examples. The pieces in my concentration reflect the beauty of humans and the objects that surround them. Each piece is different in how they were made but the theme of using colored pencil for the realistic portraits and paint for the abstraction of objects was very common. In the first three pieces, differently cropped images of women were complimented by an aspect of nature and natural color schemes to create a unity between them. The ninth and eleventh piece show two women. Those woman have blocked out their ways of seeing things so that they can imagine their surroundings for themselves. This relates to the twelfth piece in which a woman wearing glasses stares off into the distance. The reflection in her glasses give the impression that she is looking at certain objects with a particular color scheme when really, it’s all in her imagination. The tenth piece reflects a hand reaching for the decaying leaves as they slowly part from life themselves. |
